Code Blue Needs Churches and Organizations!

Code Blue is a scattered-site “warming center” program comprised of local churches and volunteers, all who assist with various functions of the program. We are requesting that your organization consider participating in one of four ways:
  1. Host Church: Volunteers from host congregations provide hospitality to Code Blue guests through their facilities. These volunteers provide meals (dinner and breakfast), overnight hospitality, and friendly support to our guests. (Note: For churches that are not located in the city centers, your church can “host” in an existing Code Blue facility).
  2. Partner Church and Organizations: Partner organizations assist the host Church in preparing meals (dinner and breakfast), overnight hospitality, and setup and cleanup.
  3. Venue Provider: The churches or organizations allow other groups to “host” Code Blue activities in their facility.
  4. Meals: If your organization is unable to make a commitment to be a host or a supporting organization, you may elect to provide and serve a meal from 6-8 PM for up to 60 participants. Due to the unpredictable nature of the winter season, we ask that Meal Sponsors sponsor a regularly occurring day (e.g. Every Wednesday, or the Third Saturday of the Month).

The M25 Initiative has committed to raising the funds necessary to provide compensation to the churches and organizations that allow the Code Blue program to utilize their facility. This year they will reimburse participating facilities $150 per night (or $12.50/per hour). The money is distributed monthly.
 
The program is safe and advances our common mission of compassion in action. Thanks to recently passed legislation, your organization/volunteers are legally protected from liability associated with serving/hosting for this program. Will you join us?
